Medical Scribe – scribe experience preferred

Medical scribes are individuals trained in medical documentation. The primary goal of a Medical Scribe is to increase efficiency and the productivity of the physician while maintaining accurate and timely notes of each patient visit.

A summary of Medical Scribes duties include, but is not limited to: performing all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a clinic setting. This includes the primary responsibility of the operation of the electronic health records. Medical scribes must be able to anticipate physician needs. Good judgement, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are essential skills.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  1. Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the provider, including but not limited to:
    • Present pertinent information to provider prior to entering patient room.
    • Patient medical history and physical exam, including skin cancer history.
    • Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including medical assistants and physician assistants.
    • Upload and label appropriate photo documentation.
    • Providing patient education materials and written instructions.
    • Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician.
    • Prepare and send electronic  prescriptions.
  2.  Prepare laboratory requisitions and pathology requisitions.
  3. Assist with in-room setup for procedures as needed.
  4. Medical Scribes must maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with governing HIPAA standards. Medical Scribes also comply with specific EMR standards.
  5. Assist with other clinic functions as time allows, i.e. stocking rooms, assistance with laundry, etc.
  6. Maintain an average of scribing 3-5 patients per hour.

Qualifications – To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Language Skills – The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Medical Scribes must be proficient in typing and good at spelling, punctuation, grammar, and communication. Must be able to listen to complex medical information and summarize in a clear, complete, and concise fashion in real time and at each patient visit. Excellent English composition skills required to generate professional, polished writing at a high rate of production. Handwriting must be clear and legible.

Understanding of medical terminology and treatment assessments to the extent required to understand and accurately transcribe dictated reports. Translate medical abbreviations into their expanded forms.

Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unis of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Prepare and interpret charts and graphs. Have the ability to compute ratio and percent.

Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to apply logic and draw conclusions based on knowledge and resource skills. Strong ability to refer to reference materials to solve problems.

Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to learn and use all functions of electronic medical record and transcription software. Must accurately enter data into a database, search for information, send and receive email and attachments. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word in order to prepare correspondence, medical reports, and other documents. Must be able to use the Intranet to access and research information with ease.

Other Skills and Abilities – Must be able to type words and numbers quickly and accurately. Must be receptive and responsive to feedback for improvement opportunities presented by clinic provider or scribe trainer.

Patient Care Coordinator – must have 1+ years experience in a medical office

This position is responsible for promoting a professional practice image by exhibiting excellent administrative qualities and outstanding customer service. The Patient Care Coordinator performs office responsibilities including, but not limited to; answering incoming phone calls, scheduling, working the online scheduling system, front desk support/backup, insurance benefit verification, providing exceptional customer service to patients, and additional front office projects on an as needed basis. An employee in this position is expected to foster an even workflow within the office and to interact well with patients as well as office and professional staff.

Necessary Skills
•  Proven oral and written communication skills and experience with conflict resolution
•  Exceptional customer service, including phone skills and in-person patient/client support
•  Ability to work in a high volume atmosphere
•  Well organized with excellent attention to detail

Education
•  High school graduate
•  Some college preferred

Experience
•  At least 1+ years of experience in a medical office setting
•  Relative educational equivalence will be considered
•  Medical and cosmetic dermatology office experience preferred

Schedule
•  Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
•  Must be flexible with hours depending upon the needs of the practice

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/AAMA) – scribe experience preferred

The certified medical assistant position requires attention to detail, adaptability, organizational skills, speed and accuracy, commitment to teamwork and the desire to provide the best customer service possible. We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude and work ethic to match.

Responsibilities
•  Assisting all providers with patient care
•  Facilitating patient flow, rooming patients
•  Taking vital signs, obtaining history and chief complaint, and providing appropriate consents
•  Assisting with biopsies and select procedures
•  Removing sutures
•  Maintaining supplies and equipment, stocking, cleaning and sterilizing instruments
•  Assisting with biopsies and select procedures
•  Providing and assistant with accurate documentation and data entry in EMR
•  Assisting with prescription refills
•  Provide patient education
•  Triage and returning patient calls promptly and triage

Requirements
• AAMA CMA, NCCT NCMA and/or AMT RMA credentials
•  2+ years clinical experience to include providing and assisting with accurate documentation and data entry in EMR
•  1+ year(s) scribing experience
•  Experience with electronic medical records systems (EMR)
