Micro-needling is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself when it suffers from physical damage. Immediately after an injury to our skin, the body begins the healing process by triggering new collagen synthesis. Our FDA approved micro-needling device is used to cause these micro-injuries. Micro-needling has been shown to reduce the visibility of acne scars, reduced the size of enlarged pores, and smooths out fine lines and wrinkles. It may also help improve skin tone and texture resulting in smoother, firmer and younger looking skin without the side effects and downtime of other laser treatments. Micro-needling is safe for all skin types.

How does micro-needling work?
At Northwest Dermatology & Research Center, micro-needling procedures are performed in a safe and precise manner with the use of the sterile treatment tool by a licensed laser technician/aesthetician. All procedures are performed in a medically supervised clinic, with a level of service that our patients have come to know, appreciate and value as part of their approach to skin care.
Micro-needling treatments are especially effective for aging concerns such as wrinkles, lines, folds and crow’s feet. General lack of skin radiance, stretch marks and scarring are also indications for micro-needling.
How will I look and feel after the treatment?
After the procedure your skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24 hours the skin will be completely healed. After three days there is little evidence that the procedure has taken place.
How many treatments will I need and how quickly are results visible?
Visible results of skin rejuvenation are generally seen after just 6-8 weeks following the procedure, and improve further over time.
Are there any side effects or risks associated with micro-needling?
Side effects experienced with micro-needling will usually subside within 48 hours. They may include red or pinkish skin, stinging, itching and/or tightness of the treated area.
